I am a huge fan of Monte Cristo sandwiches, so when I came across this recipe in a new cookbook I picked up, I just had to try it. Well, it didn't disappoint! This was such a yummy version of french toast, I may never go back to the plain stuff again!
French Toast Supreme from the Taste of Home Simple & Delicious Cookbook Ingredients: 8 slices Texas toast 4 sliced Canadian bacon 4 slices Monetery Jack cheese 1 egg 1/2 cup refrigerated French vanilla nondairy creamer Confectioners' sugar 1/4 cup seedless raspberry jam
Directions: On four slices of Texas toast, place one slice of bacon and one slice of cheese; top with remaining Texas toast. In a shallow bowl, whisk egg and creamer. Dip sandwiches into egg mixture.
On a hot griddle or large skillet coated with nonstick cooking spray, cook sandwiches for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar if desired. Serve with jam. Makes 4 servings.
